Song of the day: Daniel Boone – "Beautiful Sunday"

Here’s Daniel Boone with “Beautiful Sunday” (1972):

I don’t know anything about Daniel Boone. Hang on a minute, I’ll just consult the Internet…

OK, now I know something about Daniel Boone. There’s not that much to know. Wikipedia says this:

Daniel Boone (born Peter Green, 31 July 1942, Birmingham, England) is a British pop musician who became a one-hit wonder in the U.S. with the single “Beautiful Sunday” in 1972. The song was written by Boone and Rod McQueen and racked up a million in sales worldwide. It peaked at No. 15 on The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the summer of 1972, and at No. 21 on the UK Singles Chart earlier that same year. In 1972, Boone was the recipient of the “Most Likeable Singer” award from Rolling Stone magazine.

“Beautiful Sunday” remains the biggest selling single by an international artist on the Japanese Oricon chart.

And that’s it.

(I love that “Most Likeable Singer” award.)

Although Daniel Boone wasn’t Australian, “Beautiful Sunday” was a hit in Australia. That’s good enough for me.

As a bonus, here’s Daniel singing “Beautiful Sunday” in German:

I love the Internet.
