Song of the day: Ted Nugent – "Snakeskin Cowboys"

Here’s Ted Nugent with a ripper of a rock song (well, I like it):

Yesterday’s song by Skyhooks, “Carlton (Lygon Street Limbo)”, had the following chord progression in its verses, with each chord lasting a bar:

(For non-musicians: if you count along with the beat – 1, 2, 3, 4 – then that’s usually a bar in rock*.)

E then B then D then A

Ted’s effort has the same chord progression in its verses, and with one chord for each bar (just like the Skyhooks track), but Ted’s verses start with the B chord, so it’s:

B then D then A then E

But as far as I’m concerned, that’s pretty much the same.

I had thought about making this a Musical coincidence, but it’s relatively minor (and I reckon that there’s probably plenty of other rock songs that use the “E then B then D then A” chord progression). Plus, if I’d made both songs a Musical coincidence, they wouldn’t have been Songs of the day.

(*In prog rock, however, bars can be all over the place. Instead of counting to 4, you’ll probably find yourself counting to 3, or 7, or 13, or 29 etc.)
