Here’s a veteran of the Australian rock music scene, the
frequently-retiring / comeback kid / perpetually over-exposed / highly respected John Farnham with a bit of cheese from 1972 that “Whispering Johnny” would probably rather forget, the lightly-rockin’ “Rock Me Baby”:
For some reason or another (I think it’s the ‘groove’), when John’s version of “Rock Me Baby” starts, I keep thinking Dusty Springfield is going to sing it instead.
As a bonus, here’s the original version by America’s very own John Farnham, David Cassidy (although David hasn’t had as many comebacks as John). It’s tough to choose which one rocks lighter, but I think it’s Johnny who wins that round:
