American chappy Keith Klingensmith (Hi, Keith!) has recorded an album of cover versions and is offering it free to anyone who wants it.
Keith didn’t do anything radical to the songs he chose. It looks like he just chose a bunch of his favourite songs and recorded them fairly faithfully.
I’m usually allergic to “straight” readings of songs (I could never see the point of recording a song if it’s simply going to sound like it did in the first place), but I enjoyed the album because of the songs Keith decided to record.
And any album that begins with a cover of The Weepies’ “The World Spins Madly On”* is alright by me.
(*Which reminds me: I haven’t have my heart broken lately. Time to listen to The Weepies’ Say I Am You again.)
