Here’s something you don’t hear very often nowadays: An Old-School Pop Song. And something you don’t see very often either, is a video for An Old-School Pop Song:
Kevin Martin – “Looking For Love“ (2012)
For me, that’s a straight-from-the late-’60s/early-’70s pop song.
Expansive melody? Check. Vocal harmonies? Check. Variety in the song structure? Check. Mellotron? Check.

I forgot to mention this a couple of weeks ago, but a couple of weeks ago on the Absolute Powerpop blog (Hi, Steve!), I heard about a new album by an American chap called Kevin Martin. I pressed “play”, and wasn’t even halfway through the first track when I thought “Oh yeah, I’m buying that album”. (It’s five bucks. You can’t argue with that*.)
The next thing I know, I’d bought an album by Kevin Martin.
This is what caused me whip out my electronic wallet:
Kevin Martin – TV News (2012)
I must admit that the only thing I don’t like about the album is someone’s insistence on trying to make Kevin resemble a teddy bear in the cover photo.
Oh, and one more thing: here’s the album in case you want to hear it…
(*Although I can argue with the CD. I wanted to buy it – it’s only $9, which I think is a bargain – but the shipping to me in Australia is another $9. I think that’s way too much. Hey, Kevin: If your shipping to Australia was $3 I’d buy the CD in a flash.)
