My friend and fellow Australian blogger Stonefish (Hi, Stoneman!) recently had a little moan about my tendency to occasionally wander off into non-power-pop territory on this supposedly power-pop-centric blog. Stonecutie, you are absolutely correct.
Well, in a fabulously fortuitous coincidence I received an email from an American power pop band called Off Broadway USA who were keen for me to play their song.
Can do, folks:
Off Broadway USA – “All Messed Up And Ready To Go” (2012)
I didn’t mind that at all*.
Thanks, Off Broadway USA, for coming to the rescue.
If you want some more information about the song or the band or both, here’s the blurb that was in the email:
Chicago, IL- Seminal Power Pop luminaries OFF BROADWAY USA have been very busy in the studio lately, and are happy to announce that for the first time in the New Millennium fans will finally be able to get their aural fix on with some brand-spankin’ new music!
The first release will be featured on an upcoming tribute album celebrating the legendary power pop icons THE RECORDS! The disc is being released by Zero Hour Records in Australia, and features great acts from all over the globe paying homage to the aptly dubbed “British Big Star“. OBUSA ripped it up on the Birch/Wicks penned classic ALL MESSED UP AND READY TO GO, a powerhouse tune from The Records first album “Shades In Bed” (simply titled “The Records” in the States).
The band has also released their first-ever music video for the single, a unique high-octane visual treat that’s sure to get the blood pumping. Check it out here:
Be sure to catch OBUSA live in concert at one of their many stops this year and help them celebrate their 35th Anniversary! Tour dates available online at:
