Fabulous. (Cheese never sounded so good.)
“My Little Angel” was young William’s second single, and it reached number one in 1975. It was written and produced by – yep, you guessed it – the inescapable Vanda and Young*.
Incidentally, William Shakespeare’s real name is John Cave. Of his two other stage names, my favourite is “Billy Shake.” I love that name. As a bonus, here’s Willy’s first single, “Can’t Stop Myself From Loving You” (1974), also written and produced by Vanda and Young (of course). It reached number two on the charts:
I actually prefer “I Can’t Stop Myself…”, but I’m not one to argue with the taste of the Australian public in the 70’s. As far as I’m concerned, it was all good.
(*I firmly believe that if you were a recording artist in the 70’s, and were just starting your career, you would have almost certainly had a knock on the door at some stage, and it would have been Harry Vanda and/or George Young offering you a song.)
